I road tested the new Sweaty Betty range and… I think they’ve nailed their new season gear as they get pumped to support the sweaty road to the Rio de Janiero Olympics. You can check out more pics of the range and join in the Instagram Challenge #SweatyBettyGoesToRio, win part of the range by participating up to 15 Feb 2016!
The beautiful blues are my personal favourites from this latest drop. Of course I’m biased, blue is obviously my favourite colour, inspired by the ocean and the stunning coastline of my home, the South West and South Coast of Western Australia.
Its easy to get jaded with the constant narrowing of body images on social media, with all the same old formula of images doing the rounds, you know, young pre-children models in sports wear and the defined abs from dieting…. In contrast is the refreshing variety of beautiful bodies on the beaches of Rio, confident and free!
My top 3 picks of the latest Sweaty Betty drop are…
The Urdvha Yoga Leggings which are reversible with black inside. They are a high quality reversible, so you’re really getting two pairs in one. The cute mesh panels appear robust and are comfortable, they didn’t feel flimsy at all. I like the versatile waist band that can be worn high or rolled down. And of course, the blues are gorgeous and fresh!
The bold geometric print of the the Amrita Yoga Leggings have a really flattering feminine shape with scooped back seams. Again they are reversible so worth the investment in the high quality leggings. I wear these paired with a light aqua blue singlet or crop to match the blue in the leggings. They have mesh panels up the lower sides of the calf that adds a bit of a spunky fashion edge.
My favourite pair of leggings are the 7/8 Salabasana in ‘toucan space dye blue’! They’re super cute with just the right amount of edgy mesh panneling to add some interest without being over the top.
Like all the Sweaty Betty leggings, the quality of the fabric is excellent. When I hear other brands promoting their leggings as ‘never see through’ I think ‘hmmmn…’, but Sweaty Betty fabrics are thick with a close weave and not like other cheaper fabrics, their leggings are not see through at all.
I’ve worn the Sweaty Betty leggings a lot and the comfort and stretch level is excellent for yoga. They are true to size and have a comfortable wide waistband
Of course, the ethos and credibility of a brand is important to me, having worked with many brands I’m more savy these days. I like the bone-fides of a brand that ‘wants to dress and empower women’ and who demonstrate this in their empowering not demeaning images and clothes.
